October 31, 2024 - Lake of the Week
Share
Summer fishing has come and gone. Many anglers are now taking advantage of the cooler temps and fall bite. I hope you all are able to get out and find some biggin's in this final month before ice! Please tag me (JD_Ice_Fishes) in all your Fall catches on Tik Tok!
Lake of the Week is Crystal Lake in Burnsville, MN. If you have never had the opportunity to catch a Tiger Musky, this lake gives you a pretty good chance at success. Between now and the end of November, these fish will be feeding and getting bulked up for the winter. There is a public dock on the north west end of the lake that has good access to these fish. Even when the dock is taken out, you can still catch them from shore.
A sucker minnow on the bottom of the lake or suspended from a bobber a few feet has been absolutely money and will only get better.
Now for the good stuff! Ice season is right around the corner. Future temps as of today show some below freezing weather for northern Minnesota the last 10 days of November. If you are like me, you are really itching at the bit to find some walkable ice before December but we will have to wait to see how Mother Nature wants to treat us this season. My guess is the season will be starting the first week of December.
Stay tuned for ice report updates towards the end of the month!
